A house slab is the one part of your build that everything else stands on, and the one part you can never go back and fix once the frame is up. A worked example.

A 180m² single-storey home slab on a class M Gracemere block: soil test and engineering around $1,400, slab supplied and finished at roughly $120 per square metre for around $21,600, plus certifier approval near $900. All up in the region of $23,900 for a fully engineered, signed-off slab ready for the frame. A simpler extension slab of 30m² on stable ground might run $4,000 to $5,500 all in.
